Herbst Appliance

The Herbst appliance is used to help correct excessive overjet (the upper teeth protruding in front of the lower), usually caused by a small lower jaw relative to the upper. The herbst appliance consists of crowns that are fit to the upper and lower first molars. The lower crowns have extension arms to canine area. The upper and lower arches are connected by a rod that screws to the lower extension arm and a tube that is screwed to the upper crown. The lower rod slides in the upper tube, which directs the lower jaw forward to correct your overjet. This appliance is not removable. View Instructions
